Norfork has a Mayor-Council form of government with six council
members elected from three wards. The city is served by the Norfork Fire District (Baxter County). The city recently expanded
its water system. For water service information, call the Norfork
City Hall at 870-499-5225.
The city holds workshop meetings on the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 PM. Council meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month at 6:30 PM.

Business Licenses
There is a $25.00 fee for business licenses in Norfork.
Taxes
Arkansas sales tax is 6% on goods and services.
In addition, Baxter County has a 1% tax on the same items and Norfork has a 1% sales tax, for a total of 8%.
ISO Fire Rating
Within Norfork city limits, the ISO Fire Rating is a class 6. Outside the city limits, within 5 miles of one of the two fire stations, the ISO rating is a class 7. Areas further than 5 miles from a fire station are rated as a class 10.
The Insurance Services Office, Inc. (ISO), provides a Fire Rating
of 1 to 10 with 1 being the best rating. Factors considered
in the rating are numerous but include the community's fire
services, such as water supply, storage capacity and flow,
fire alarms, communications system, fire companies and their
locations, and testing procedures.
Residents may find out
from their insurance companies exactly what dollar amount
the ISO rating translates into.
